What would you like your gift to say?
Many parents and grandparents wonder whether their christening gift will be appreciated. In our experience, they can rest assured – a piece of jewellery is almost always a cherished gift and a lovely reminder of the giver, which the child can carry with them through life.
Our advice is to choose a motif that means something to you and the family. Perhaps a flower that recalls Åland, an angel to express care, or an archipelago motif connected to a place you share.
That personal connection can give the gift a meaning that stays with the child as they grow up.
A motif to grow with
Think beyond the christening day. A delicate, timeless design can feel just as natural when the child is older.
Silver or gold?
Both silver and gold make beautiful christening gifts. Choose what feels right to you – the bright lustre of silver or the warm tone of gold. The thought behind the gift is the same. Our jewellery is handmade in Åland from recycled 925 sterling silver and 18K gold.
Tell them why you chose it
Consider writing a few words to the child about the jewellery and the thought behind your gift. It makes the memory more personal to return to in years to come.
A chain that can change with time
Choose a length for later use
For christening gifts, we usually recommend 36 cm for the child to wear when older. This length often suits children up to school age, but the fit should always be assessed individually. As the child grows, the pendant can be moved to a longer chain.
The three silver necklaces we recommend here normally include a 42 cm curb chain. If you prefer 36 cm, we can provide it at the same price.
How to order 36 cm
Write “Please provide a 36 cm chain” in the comments field at checkout. The price is the same as for the standard length.
A gift to keep for later. Infants should not wear necklaces. Chains and small parts can pose strangulation and choking risks. Keep the gift out of reach until the child is older and the jewellery can be worn safely.

Engraving, gift wrapping
and other questions
Can the jewellery be engraved?
It depends on the size and design. Not every piece has room for engraving. Contact us before ordering and we will help you find out what is possible for your chosen piece.
Can a christening gift be exchanged?
Jewellery without engraving can be exchanged under our usual exchange terms. Pieces with personal engraving cannot be exchanged. The exception is ALFA/BETA with its original letter, which can be exchanged under the usual terms.
Can you gift-wrap the jewellery?
Yes, we are happy to wrap your gift. Select gift wrapping when ordering, or ask us in the shop.
How far ahead of the christening should I order?
Please order in good time, especially if you would like engraving or another adjustment. Let us know when you need the gift so we can check availability and delivery times for your order.
Is the jewellery suitable for a naming ceremony too?
Yes. A heart, a flower or a motif connected to a place can make a personal welcome gift, however the family chooses to celebrate.
How do I care for the jewellery?
Store the jewellery in a dry, protected place when it is not being worn. Follow the care instructions for the material and take particular care with pearls. We are happy to help with questions about cleaning or a new chain.
