Guldviva was born in 1989 as a classic goldsmith’s shop. Very soon it became clear that Guldviva had the knowledge, drive and ambition for much more than repairing and selling other people’s products. Guldviva’s head goldsmith, Maria Karlström, saw jewellery where no one else did. In the roadside, flying between blades of grass, on the jetty, crawling over the rocks, swimming in the sea. That is where Guldviva found its form – with one foot in the sea and the other in the soil. We are who we are because of everything we have experienced. Guldviva’s root system winds its way back to a calmer time. The design language is inspired by childhood summers, by security, lapping water, feet on a warm rock, a hand in grandpa’s hand. When we don’t analyse but simply feel. Every piece of jewellery from Guldviva carries that mood, that calm.

For more than a decade, Guldviva has lived in the Maritime Quarter in Mariehamn. The old fish smokehouse between the boathouses stood empty for a long time; perhaps it was hard for people to see its potential. But we saw something there – a home to thrive and flourish in – and the little black-smoked hut was transformed into a workshop and shop. The original hut has now been joined by another, slightly larger one, and both the shop and the workshop have gained room to grow.

Today, Guldviva has plenty of space in its own store, but is also boundless online. Ideas flow in our workshop – there are over 400 designs in the collection, and it keeps growing. People all over the world wear and order Guldviva every day. Quality, precision and good design are our passion. We grow a little every time we see someone wearing one of our pieces.

Today many of us work with Guldviva. We are proud of our roots; our history gives us strength to look ahead. Guldviva is design craftsmanship and our pieces are unique, just like all of you who wear them.
