What does handmade jewelry mean?
For us at GULDVIVA, we see ourselves first and foremost as a goldsmithing company — With a main focus on quality materials such as 925 sterling silver and 18K gold, we create unique, handmade jewellery inspired by our Åland nature.
Jewellery with soul
Every piece of jewellery begins its journey as precious metal on the goldsmith’s bench. Through techniques such as forging, filing and soldering, metal wire and sheet are transformed into unique and timeless pieces, created with soul and care. When needed, we also use casting to recreate the details in particularly unique shapes – either in our own workshop or together with local partners.
What makes our jewellery special is the finish, that perfect polish which gives the piece its lustre and refined expression! We put great care into every detail – because that is where genuine craftsmanship truly shows.
Even though we make our jewellery by hand, we buy certain components, such as chains, from specialised manufacturers – always with the same high quality requirements.
100% recycled
We are also proud to work in 100% recycled genuine gold and silver, purchased directly from our own customers. For us, taking responsibility for both people and the environment is a given – today many call it a circular economy, for us it has always been part of our DNA.
Sustainable design
Sustainability and quality go hand in hand. When you choose a piece of jewellery from us, you should feel confident that the design is timeless, the materials carefully selected, and that there is always the possibility to care for and repair what is needed.
Every Guldviva piece is handmade in our own workshop in Sjökvarteret, Mariehamn in Åland. This guarantees high-quality, professional and solid workmanship. All pieces are made entirely in precious metal; they are never filled with other material or hollow. All jewellery from us is always made in nickel-free 925 sterling silver or 18K gold.
Silver and gold are materials that last forever, but jewellery you wear often will still show signs of frequent use. That’s why we offer free professional polishing of all Guldviva jewellery!

Warranty
Your Guldviva piece is designed and crafted to last a long time and be passed on as an heirloom to future generations. That’s why we provide a warranty on all our jewellery and repair free of charge any damage that occurs due to possible manufacturing defects. Damage caused by wear or accidents we are happy to repair, but at the normal labour cost.
Slow jewellery
In a world obsessed with speed, where trends rush past at a furious pace, Guldviva stands for something different. We believe in Slow Jewellery – jewellery created with care and consideration, meant to be loved and worn for generations. Read more about our jewellery philosophy below!
Resisting haste: We take the time to create jewellery with care and precision, without being rushed by the fast-paced world around us.
Sustainability in focus: We use materials with a low environmental impact and create high-quality jewellery that lasts.
Timeless design: Our jewellery is not driven by trends, but by timeless elegance and beauty.
Personality and story: Each piece of jewellery carries a unique story and is defined by true craftsmanship.
The use of good, carefully selected materials is also a hallmark of the concept of “Slow Jewellery”. In the Slow Jewellery industry, you should choose materials with as little environmental impact as possible, such as recycled metal. Another important ingredient is the design of the piece, and that it is timeless. As mentioned, these pieces are meant to be worn for a long time, and should still remain stylish despite the rapidly changing trend hysteria we live in today.
There are many other important factors within Slow Jewellery that are worth mentioning, such as avoiding mass production of jewellery, maintaining an ethical and good working environment in the company, and ensuring fair and correct pricing. All of these elements belong to Guldviva’s core values – to create jewellery you can wear, love and that will remain important to you for a long time!
