THE STORY BEHIND RÅG
It all began with a seed.
When our designer and head goldsmith Maria Karlström read Anni Blomqvist’s Stormskärs Maja and Vilhelm Moberg’s The Emigrants, one thought stayed with her: how much could depend on a single seed sown in the earth.
When people settled somewhere new, they needed to sow their grain. The harvest would put food on the table and help them carry on.
That thought became the seed of RÅG, launched for the Åland Harvest Festival in 2019.

For us, rye came to embody the human ability to persevere and find a way forward. To cherish where we come from, while daring to put down roots somewhere new. To begin again, sometimes without knowing what lies ahead.
