JEWELLERY FOR GENERATIONS

Sustainability and quality go hand in hand. Classic design, climate-smart materials and the possibility to repair what breaks are important aspects to consider when you buy a product, for example a piece of jewellery from Guldviva. This is how we make sure your jewellery will last for a very long time.

Quality
Every Guldviva piece of jewellery is handmade in our own workshop in the Maritime Quarter on Åland. This guarantees high-quality, professional and solid craftsmanship.

All jewellery is made entirely of precious metal; it is never filled with other material or hollow. The accompanying chains that are not made by us at Guldviva are also of the highest quality and in 925 Sterling Silver or 18K gold.

Warranty
Your Guldviva jewellery is designed and made to last a long time and to be passed on as an heirloom to future generations. Therefore, we provide a warranty on all our jewellery and repair free of charge any damage that occurs due to possible manufacturing defects. Damage that occurs due to wear and tear or accidents we are happy to repair, but at a normal labour cost.

Sustainable materials
As base materials we use only nickel-free 925 sterling silver or 18K gold. We strive for fully sustainable production and today use 100 percent recycled metal.

Polishing and restoration
Silver and gold are materials that last forever, but jewellery you wear often will still show signs of frequent use. That is why we offer free professional polishing of all Guldviva jewellery. We can, for example, tumble jewellery with polishing beads, redo the surface finish by hand and, if necessary, redo antique treatments. Your jewellery will then be as good as new again.

Before you hand in your jewellery, we ask you to first remove hair from chains and any deposits on, for example, earrings. It is usually enough to brush with a toothbrush, lukewarm water and regular soap.

Care instructions
To care for your jewellery yourself, you can make sure to store it correctly and polish it at regular intervals.

Silver oxidizes, i.e. becomes discoloured, when it comes into contact with sulphur. Sulphur is found in the air, on the skin, in cigarette smoke, perfumes, etc. In other words, it cannot be avoided. The more humid the air, the faster silver oxidizes.

Tips to prolong the shine
Preferably store your silver jewellery in an airtight plastic bag (e.g. a mini-grip bag).
Avoid storing your jewellery in the bathroom, where it is often humid.
Always take off your jewellery before you shower or bathe.
Take off your jewellery when you play sports.
Polish the jewellery with a cleaning agent intended for home use.
Avoid chemical cleaning of pearls, as the strong silver polish can corrode the surface of the pearl. If you have to dip the pearl as well, let it sit for only a few seconds.
Keep in mind that chemical cleaning also removes oxidation on the jewellery that is part of the design.

Household tips
If you want to be more environmentally friendly, you can use this old trick: line a container with aluminium foil, sprinkle in a little bicarbonate of soda or coarse salt, place the jewellery inside and then pour in boiling water. The trick of brushing with toothpaste also works but should only be used as an emergency solution, as the abrasive in the toothpaste can leave small scratches on your jewellery.
