For me, BLOMMAN™ is a symbol of courage

I was born at the same time as Blomman, and we formed a special bond when I moved to Åland. I wear my jewelry wherever I go and feel secure knowing that Blomman is always with me, as a part of me.

For me, Guldviva's Blomman also represents courage. I dared to leave one life to move to another. Through life's winding path, I know that Blomman is always there, supporting me in my decisions, giving me the courage to bloom.

A link to family on the other side of the world

I have lived on Åland since 1992, but I am originally from Denham in New South Wales, Australia. On Åland I discovered Guldviva’s BLOMMAN, which I have since given as a gift to all the women in my family. My mother and sister, sister‑in‑law, niece and my sister’s daughter‑in‑law.

When they have visited me, of course we have stopped by the Guldviva shop. And then they have bought the large BLOMMAN to wear together with the small one.

For me, BLOMMAN is a symbol of Åland, but also of my family on the other side of the world.

A reminder of friendship and history

In 1941, during the Winter War, I came to Sweden as a war child. I was only 5 years old but was lucky enough to quickly find a friend. Margaretha became my best friend and playmate. The fact that we spoke different languages did not stand in the way of our friendship. We played, laughed, and shared dreams. Unfortunately, we were separated when I was sent back to Finland. But nothing could take away the special memories we created together – like when every spring we picked big yellow bouquets of cowslips for our mothers.

65 years later I found Margaretha after a bit of detective work. We got back in touch and she came to Åland in the spring when the cowslips were in full bloom. Later, when I visited her in Sweden, I brought the BLOMMAN™ piece from Guldviva. The best gift I have ever given a dear friend. A beautiful reminder of our friendship and shared history.
